Well, it's been two weeks since I first wrote about the work on the bathroom. We've had a great new tub and faucets but no shower. As I said, we were thinking about tiling, but honestly there weren't many choices at Lowe's or Home Depot, and our little local tile store closed; and the cost was pretty high, and it would take a long time and a lot of work, so we decided to go with a tub surround. It comes in three sections so it will fit through the doors. I'm quite sure the quality has improved since our 1985 one. It just came in today, and Tom's on his way home with it. I thought I'd post a couple pics of the tub before he puts up the surround. It has been lovely for these many days to have taken a bath. And for the first time in my life, I've been reading in the bath. I'm embarking on Peter Robinson's Inspector Banks series. I had read a few out of order, and am now going back to the beginning. They are perfect bath reading - small, paperback, and great writing. Someone kindly left a comment with another address, so you may also go here to read more about the author and his books.
Raya loves drinking right out of the tap. I think this may be her coon cat heritage.
Make sure to check out Peter's official site: http://www.inspectorbanks.com.
ReplyDeleteRaya is a funny cat.
ReplyDeleteLisa, she is funny. If you'd like to read a bit more about her (and Soot) I did a blog entry a while back.

We have one very slow leak in a faucet, and one of our cats will sit very patiently and wait for that drip. It just cracks me up! You'd think we never gave her water in her bowl. But then, she has a fair amount of time on her hands for that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you're able to enjoy taking a bath. Nothing better than reading in the tub! I haven't been able to that since we bought this house 8 years ago. I really hope we can replace our existing tub/shower with a slant-back tub and tile walls so I, too, can enjoy reading in the tub. At the least, I need to get those awful shower doors out!!
ReplyDeleteRaya has the right idea. Why not get water fresh from the source? I had a cat that did that. If you got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, she raced in there to meow at you to let the tap dribble for her. This is going to be a great little bathroom for you by the looks of it. Everything sounds so nice. I must say I really love to read in the bath too. I do it each morning as I use the hot bath as therapy for my joints and muscles too.
