Lilies of the day/August 12

There are four daylilies left which haven't been featured as a lily of the day yet. They are quite similar to the July 13 lily in that they are all red and yellow. But they are each just the tiniest bit different one from another in size or shade. I guess you could call today's entries, variations on a red and yellow daylily. So that makes 21 different daylilies all around the garden. Each one takes my breath away, and gives me more pleasure than any other flower.

Lily of the day/August 11

This yellow daylily is like August itself: bright, cheerful, and sunny.

Lily of the day/August 10

Blurry, but the little breeze just wouldn't stop. :<) This is a tiny lily, only about two inches across. So delicate and beautiful.

Lily of the day/August 7

This is one of the smallest daylilies (maybe three inches across) and it is almost like a delicate little teacup catching the sun.

Lily of the day/July 28

One of my very favorites. I sometimes refer to it as the clown daylily for its bright red and yellow and because it always makes me smile.

Lily of the day/July 27

This is the only daylily whose name I know. It is called Little Fred, and I bought it in honor of a man Tom and I looked upon as a father.

Lily of the day/July 17

Yellow is the hardest color for me to photograph. Whether it be daffodils or yellow pansies or daylilies, the picture never quite shows how very beautiful the color looks in nature. But, that said, I'm still going to feature this beauty today. It is like a little sun in the garden.

Lily of the day/July 12

Years ago I ordered a 'pink collection' from White Flower Farm, and this beauty was one of them.

Lily of the day/July 10

During the summer, for a couple years now, I've been offering a daily 'bowl of daylilies.' There are 38 pictures which you may find under 'letter topics' on the sidebar. This year I've decided to do something a little different. I'm going to take a picture of a different daylily each day. I don't know the botanical names, so if you see one you know, please feel free to leave me a comment.

Today's is the common, but uncommonly beautiful, orange daylily.
