Further afield/Trillium

These grow all around my daughter's rental house in the woods. We don't have any on our land. They are called Red or Purple Trillium, and also Wakerobin and Birthroot.

I read that picking the flowers of Trillium can seriously injure the plant. The three leaves below the flower are the plant's only food source and a picked trillium may die or take many years to recover.

I am changing how I post your much appreciated comments. Since I began the blog, I've waited to post them until I had the opportunity to respond. Sometimes that's taken a while, so I've decided to moderate them and post them as soon as possible, and then I'll respond when I get a chance.
Also, you may comment on any posts, no matter how old, and I will receive notice.
