Lazy Bones, sleepin’ in the sun
Never gonna get your day’s work done, never get your day’s work done
Sleepin’ in the noon-day sun.
Hoagy Carmichael
I haven't really been sleeping all day, but honestly look at these flower gardens! When am I going to cut them back? Well, there has been some rain, and I have been doing a lot of inside stuff, but there's just no excuse! Some gardener!
I'd find it very hard to discourage enthusiastic growth. My daylilies didn't even flower this year!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I hope my gardening laziness hasn't been contagious. I have the same job on my plate, but I can't seem to get out there and just do it!
ReplyDeleteI try to clean on garden a little everyday. Seems to keep things somewhat tidy.
ReplyDeleteBut I surely understand. For a number of days with my daughters
family in and out the garden was neglected. Also some of my peace.
It must be a lot of hard work keeping up with a large garden. Yours looks just wonderful to me!
ReplyDeleteI love the cosy seating area in the last picture. I could just imagine sitting there with some of your home made cakes and a cup of tea. . mmmm.
If it's any consolation I'm just the same. I just look at the garden and shake my head in despair. Everything needs cutting back, digging over and sweeping up...I just want to read, knit and bake!
ReplyDeleteoh ye, and I too call myself a gardener!
Mine is a disgrace. No--I am the disgrace. The garden can't tidy itself.
ReplyDeleteRelax Nan, It is obviously too early to do a real clean up. Enjoy this beautiful fall weather.
ReplyDeleteMy son does a great intepretation of a plant at our house. Grabbing his throat he croaks, "Water...water!" I'm glad you're a better gardener than I.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me feel much better! I still have quite a bit of outside work to attend to, and just haven't been able to get there. Let's just have another cup of tea, shall we?
ReplyDeleteI vote for taking a cup of tea out to that nice table on the front walk and having a rest in the sun :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's good to be just a wee bit lazy. It's restorative.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful brick path!
