Today's picture/Full Moon
Not the world's greatest picture, but the moon is so amazing tonight.
The Full Buck Moon - July
July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month's Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

Nan, I love your moon picture. I have been getting ready for my monthly full moon post for a day or two, snapping a photo of the almost full moon. It always seems to be too cloudy when the moon is actually full. *grin*
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aisling. I wish I had a pricey, fancy camera to capture the moon I actually saw. :<) It was just splendid.
ReplyDeleteNan, I know exactly what you mean. My camera does quite well with macro shots, but my long distance shots are just not that impressive.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing photo Nan! We have tried to take photos of the sun and moon and they never come out on my camera.
ReplyDeleteNan, your moon photo was lovely! Every full moon, I think about creating a "Songs of the Moon" mix cd but never seem to get around to it - your photo has inspired me again! www.moonlightsys.com/themoon/lyrics.html is a nice site for "moon mood" songs in case you'd like to check it out.
