Garden notes/I should have known better
The old Beatles' song is what I'm singing this morning. I should remember that Memorial Day last frost means the real Memorial Day, not the invented one to give us a three day weekend. We had a frost last night, and though Tom covered, the squash is in bad shape. We have a few more plants so we'll be okay. I think the cukes are alright. But still, but still, I should have known better.

I am changing how I post your much appreciated comments. Since I began the blog, I've waited to post them until I had the opportunity to respond. Sometimes that's taken a while, so I've decided to moderate them and post them as soon as possible, and then I'll respond when I get a chance.
Also, you may comment on any posts, no matter how old, and I will receive notice.

Hi Nan: We planted our garden on Sunday, and last night Jack Frost paid us an unexpected visit. We should have known better as well.

Aw, I hate that. If it helps our lettus is about done b/c of the heat. :)
ReplyDeleteI planted out my courgettes (zucchini) and I am keeping my fingers crossed we don't have any more frost. It can be very unpredictable here in northern England, though at this time of year I think the cold wind does most damage.
ReplyDeleteThat's a late frost, oh dear. Bad luck, Nan. If it stops raining, I'm going to plant my geraniums today -I'm convinced that we won't have any more frosts in S. England. In fact the garden is so jungly I shall have to stop blogging for a while.
