Today's Pictures/November Sunlight

I was just reading in the kitchen when I looked up and saw the sun shining in, and it got me thinking about how different the light is this time of year. We never see sunlight shining on these places in summertime, but the leaves are off the maple tree out front, and the slant of the sun is lower now, and suddenly these areas are illuminated as if under a spotlight.

  3. Great photos, Nan. I'd love to see more photos of your kitchen and hear what you've done. My kitchen is the size of a small entry (seriously!) so I'm limited on what I can do with our little project - but I love seeing what other people have done.

The books in your previous post sound wonderful - I've never read this author.

  4. Yes, and don't we treasure these rays this time of year a little more than summer rays.

  6. Winter sunshine is just so comforting. With our covered front porch and a tall house on one side of us, we don't get much sunlight in the house - at least not on the first floor. Thanks for the pictures of your cozy home.

  8. I was so delighted to read all your comments.

Grace, I recently told someone that I may just have to start showing some views of the house that aren't quite so beautiful! We have a lot of things that need tending to.

Kris, there are a few pictures here and there on the blog. In fact, the dogs on the header are in the kitchen. It's a long room, kind of divided by a chimney. We've just, after all these years, gotten the design the way I like it, but boy is there a lot of work to do. But yes, that little corner was very pretty. :<)

Heidi, not many at all. I am a slow reader. But one of my little life goals this year is to sit down and read more, and to write about them. We'll see. :<)

Les, we had a south porch when we moved in and tore it down so the light would come in. Now that area is a terrace.

Aisling, Lisa, Mari-Nanci, I was just so pleased with the way the light did come through in the photos. It doesn't always work out. In fact, just a few minutes later, it was all gone!

  9. I do know what you mean about the different ways the light shines. Our cat always finds those spots. I love seeing these corners of your home and I love your yellow mixer!

  11. Nan, those pictures are SO beautiful! There is nothing so lovely as that which is natural, in my opinion, and you caught the simple beauty perfectly. I'm so glad to meet you, via dear Les, and look forward to reading your blog regularly. May I add you to my links?

  12. Thank you, Tara, Colleen, and Bellezza. I'm so pleased you came to visit. And Bellezza, you have better manners than I. :<) I just added your name to my list without even asking.
