Mrs Bale reports the final tally 2/15/07

21 inches! And some people in the area got even more.

  1. Wow! I can't imagine that much snow here. Do you usually have to clear your roof or was this storm bigger than usual? We'd probably have to hire someone to do ours since it's so high up (even if we were standing on a lot of snow to get to it!).

  2. You'll see in one of yesterday's photos, ol' Tom with his roof rake. He rakes off only the back roof after each snowfall, because it isn't steep. The other roofs are steep enough so the snow melts and drips off. If he didn't rake the back roof, melting snow would back up and cause leaks. The handle of the roof rake is very long, about 25 feet.

  3. Oh, ok. I thought he was raking it (I did see that picture, by the way) because there was so much and it was too heavy on the roof. I have a strange worry about roofs (leaking, collapsing, etc.).

  4. I knew you had seen it, but I wasn't sure if it was clear just what he was doing. The rake is amazing. Very light-weight so it is easy to lift.
