Today's cd/Hopes and Fears
Keane/Hopes and Fears/2004
Truth be told, I could happily play this cd every single day, and never, ever tire of it.
Recently a local radio station asked listeners to send in their top ten favorite albums of all time. A very daunting endeavor. Some results were very important historically, but my choices were strictly personal loves. The newest one on my list was Hopes and Fears. If you are wondering about the others, here they are in alphabetical order:
Barenaked Ladies - Gordon
The Beatles – A Hard Day's Night
Keane - Hopes and Fears
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend
Van Morrison - Days Like This
Van Morrison & The Chieftains - Irish Heartbeat
Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory
Paul Simon - Graceland
Zoot Sims Quartet - That Old Feeling
Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA
Anyway, back to Keane. I sometimes describe music as "achingly beautiful" and the description fits here. I love this album.
The song playing is Everybody's Changing.

Nan, I just looked this up on iTunes and some times Keane is listed Rock and sometimes alternative. I love the song. I am now downloading it.
ReplyDeleteYou have such wide variety in musical tastes and knowledge. How did this develope? Michael? or have you always loved music?
I've always, always loved music. I bought 45s when I was just a little girl. The first night my husband and I met we talked continuously about music. I had finally met someone as interested as I was! Our son probably picked it up from us, while our daughter got the interest in books. :<) Something I really love is that both my son and son-in-law are in their own bands, and sometimes play together.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to come up with a place in my house to put all the old albums sitting in the cellar. Then I plan to get a turntable so I can play them again. Some I've gotten on cd, but not that many.
I'm having such a good time with the "today's cd". I always play music everyday anyhow, and it is fun jotting it down. Thank you for your comment, Janet.
Well, it's off to iTunes again, Nan. I love your Today's CD posts because I'm always looking for new-to-me music.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marcia! I am just delighted.
