Letters from a Hill Farm
Great quote. My most relaxing time is puttering around in the garden. It always amazes me when I find something new growing.Ann
Gandhi always amazes me. All these years later, his truths endure.
So very true and we keep getting further and further away from that!
There are some promising things now like urban gardening, rooftop gardening, and also younger people farming smaller places for niche markets. All of which give me hope.
I love how this quote grounds me; quite literally. My father is a cattleman, and he always called himself a tiller of the soil believing quite strongly that we are required to care for it. In so doing we care for ourselves; getting in touch, I think, from whence we came and to what we shall return. (Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.)
Now that I am a grandmother, it seems that I am often late in replying to your most-appreciated comments. But I read them as soon as they come in, and I will write as soon as I can. Please do come back and check. I love these blogging conversations. A little addendum - I've just spent quite a long time catching up with dear notes you left me months ago!! I do hope you can get back to read them. And I'm trying to be much more prompt now! Also, you may comment on any post, no matter how old, and I will see it.
