The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Have you seen or heard of this wonderful animated short movie which won an Academy award? I so loved it, and had tears in my eyes at the end. It is fifteen minutes long, and you may see it here.

I thought all the short films looked so interesting on the Oscars this year. I just never know where to catch them!

    1. What a wonder you tube is! All the years I would see short films win and never, ever be able to see them.

  5. For anyone who loves books, this is a treasure!
I knew I would love it from the opening strains of "Pop Goes The Weasel", a tune that I have always liked!

  6. I have seen this, Nan, and of course I loved it and am so pleased that it won an Oscar, and I've just now listed to your previous post - The Living Years - one of my favorites that will be humming through my head all day.

I just brought Asleep home from the library and the forward alone has me hooked. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

  7. Both are wonderful in their own special ways, aren't they.
It is a fascinating story, and one that had not been told.

  11. It's such a sweet story and so well done! The graphics are wonderful. I have less and less tolerance for the loud and flashy movies these days; this one is just my speed.

    1. Wasn't it just so dear. William Joyce has written books for kids. George Shrinks, and Santa Calls are two titles.

  13. Well, it's done nothing but pour the entire time! Severe storms with flash flooding and bridges out... 14.5 inches of rain in 24 hours and then more throughout the following days. Sigh. We're trying to get out and walk between downpours, but we're kindof stranded and stuck inside. And 58 mph winds sustained!

    1. I guess that's how it gets so green in paradise!! Those folks in LOST were always getting rained on.
When we were kids and went to England for the first time, it rained the whole month of June. I lived in my trench coat.
