Read, every day, something no one else is reading.
Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.
Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.
It is bad for the mind to continually be part of unanimity.
Christopher Morley (1890-1957)
Love it, Nan. Great quote. But then, I'm a big fan of Morley. :)
ReplyDeleteHave you read PARNASSUS ON WHEELS and THE HAUNTED BOOKSHOP?
I'm sure you have, but thought I'd ask anyway. I love those books!
Your shelves and that chair are so beautiful. My built-in shelves are on the same design except they aren't painted. However, they are a total mess with too many books jammed in. Your room is blissfully uncluttered - and I suspect your mind is orderly as well. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Christopher Morley.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying, with my magnifying glass in hand, to read the titles of your books! I love looking at other people's book shelves.
Excellent. My favorite people are quirky ones who march to a different beat and I guess they are following Mr Morley's advice.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteA lovely quote! And a wonderful header.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote, but even more impressive is your new header! I love that wall of books!! Could you post the picture as part of a blog entry so I can click and enlarge the photo in order to see all the book titles? :)
ReplyDeleteYvette, I have read Parnassus twice, but am not positive about the Bookshop.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, my mind may be orderly but it is full of stuff. :<) If you are interested, I did a little piece on that cool chair, four years ago:

The living room is very different now!
Jill, does it work? :<)
Sallie, I feel the same way.
I do, too, Colleen.
Thanks, Kristi.
Les, I emailed you about the photo. :<)
great quote!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is Susan! And I love his picture.
