Today's Song - Blossom Dearie/ Rhode Island is Famous for You

I was listening to Jazz 24 the other day when the DJ played Back Home in Indiana, and introduced it by whimsically asking "how many electoral college votes does Indiana have?". It made me think of this song. It is a wonderfully witty and delightful way of looking at our states in a non-political way.

  1. Wow, Blossom Dearie. I'm not a big jazz fan (it largely mystifies me), but I discovered Blossom Dearie a decade or so ago and was fascinated by her voice and style. This, though, is the only time I've ever seen her come up anywhere on the net other than via one of my own YouTube searches for her work. She was really something.

    1. I have some ultra cool friends who were into her in the 1970s, and that was the first time I'd heard of her. Completely unique, isn't she?

  4. Oh that was fun Nan! You are all about happy memories and smiles here today! (We have passed a few hours of road trip time remembering something about each State we’ve stayed in. It would have been a laugh if we’d known this song!).
