Today's poem by Ted Kooser

This is actually his poem from yesterday. I found it delightful.

november 18

  Cloudy, dark and windy.

Walking by flashlight
at six in the morning,
my circle of light on the gravel
swinging side to side,
coyote, raccoon, field mouse, sparrow,
each watching from darkness
this man with the moon on a leash.

  1. I love the depth within the simplicity of his poems. I've written a few blog posts about his poetry, which you can find here.

    1. So very nice to hear from you!! I could happily take evening dark walks, but not morning! I like it to be light before I get up. haha. His description is completely unique. "enchanting" is right!

  5. I am so glad you introduced me to Ted Kooser. Our library has several of his books and I just bought this one. I too loved the this poem, especially the line of the 'moon on a leash'. I can just see the moon blazing a trail.
