2017 Book Facts

As I wrote about the 2016 books, I jot these facts down for my own interest, and I can't imagine anyone but me caring about such things. For 2018 I'm adding what country the author is from and where the book takes place.

This year I read 55 books.

6 fiction (1 short stories)
5 nonfiction
44 mysteries (1 short stories)

44 on the kindle
11 in print

Gender of author:

33 men
22 women

Publication dates:

1900 through 1910 - 1
1920s - 1
1930s - 7
1940s - 3
1950s - 4
1960s - 2
1970s - 1
1990s - 9
2000 through 2010 - 6
2011 through 2019 - 21

  1. As every year, I find your book facts impressive! If made a statistics of publication dates of what I have been reading ever since I got my kindle, I'd probably arrive at about a third of my reading material being published between 1850 and 1910, if not more.
2011 through 2019 puzzles me a bit; you probably meant to type 2017 there?

    1. Actually, no. I did mean 2019. That's what I decided to do instead of ending it every year that I'm in. Probably makes no sense but it does to me. haha

  2. I am always amazed that you have the patience to keep track of all of these stats. I do find them interesting but I doubt I could ever keep the score so to speak. I did have an idea that I would try this year. I kept all the little papers that the library gives you to tell you when to return your books but I do read a lot on my Nook and trade books with others so there is a whole lot I don't know.

    1. It's only because I am interested, Lisa. And probably a bit of a list geek. haha

  3. You had a pretty nice year in books. Like you, these days I find myself reading many more books on my Kindle. Hope you enjoy your 2018 selections Nan.

  4. Only because most of my reading has happened at night and it is easier for me to hold the kindle. My goal this year is to spend more time during the day reading my print books.

  5. Oh, I love reading this sort of post! I, too, want to spend more time during the day reading. My habit is to read in bed at night, but there's no reason why I can't read anytime now that I'm not working.

I still want to write mine book summary for 2017. I think I'll do that today. :)

    1. Thanks, Les. I've been doing a bit better picking up my print book during the day. You're right. It is mostly habit.
