I bet when you saw the title you thought of Mariah Carey or the young girl in Love, Actually, but this is a different song, an older song. I have a copy of Eddie Fisher singing it in 1952! I love, love, love this Vince Vance and the Valiants version! I wish I could remember where I first heard it. I've recently begun jotting down what made me buy a certain song or album but wasn't doing it when I bought this Christmas album.
It has been awhile since I heard this version. Love it. Keep em coming Nan.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Lisa! Glad you like 'em!
DeleteLisa Layne is the singer's name and I agree, this is a great version! (I might have had it on my blog before but like you, I am so disappointed when I go back and see it has gone away!)
ReplyDeleteI looked her up and she also sings songs by Patsy Cline now, she lives in Nashville.
I looked up Lisa Layne on your blog and a post didn't show up. How did you know her name? Apparently the group members changed. Anyhow, what a voice! I'm just pleased you knew of her, and of the song. VV and the Vs are not a household name, though maybe better known in the south?
DeleteI love it, naturally! Nice to know she lives in Nashville now.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could see her somewhere!
