Quote du jour / Philip Larkin

Today at 3:21 pm Eastern time the sun goes into Libra, beginning the autumn season.

I came across this quote today and thought it perfect for the blowsy, over-stayed-its-welcome cleome! It looks so out of place amongst all the autumnal colors around these days. Unbelievably, we haven't had a frost yet!

Autumn has caught us in our summer wear.
Philip Larkin (1922-86)

That pink just doesn't fit! 😂

  1. Love the quote and it is apt for this time of year.

  2. I had to wear a jacket this morning for the first time on my walk. It was 48 degrees. However, by the time I had a gone a couple of miles I was warm and ended up tying the jacket around my waist. Cold hands though. I love the colors in the pictures, but I guess this late for first frost for you guys. ;-)

    1. A local woman posted her bounty from her veg garden on instagram and said last year it would have been all frozen!
That 48 must have made for great walking weather!

  3. How appropriate that quote is! Our low in the 50s last night made me wonder when we'll get our first frost, not for a good while, I suspect. And no real autumn colors here yet, just that feeling in the air when the winds brought in a cold front last night. Lovely, lovely! Our garden is still in its summer wear but it's getting mighty dingy and faded. What has been your lowest temperature this month, Nan?

  4. Even Houston is getting a refresh/makeover the last couple of days. All the way down to 58 degrees in north Houston this morning, and it made for a huge change. If it could stay exactly like this all year long, I would be happy.
