Eating like a child; and another sweet grandchild saying

Last night, this is what I had for supper.

Lettce, yellow beans, and corn from local farmers, our cucumbers and potatoes, and a glass of milk. These happen to be all my childhood favorite foods for summer suppers. The only thing missing is peas, which we will probably have tonight.

And before supper, Hazel Nina and I were outdoors at our new fire pit which we haven't lit yet because the weather is too hot. She suddenly told me I looked "so cute" that she had to go get a phone to take a picture. As with Campbell Walker's adorable words the other day, I will say again, how many 72-year-olds hear that adjective applied to them! She also moved around a bit because she wanted to include the barn. Photographer in the making?

  5. Splendid photo. Just back from a week with 3 granddaughters. The one from Buffalo returned with us to NH and is staying at her cousins home for the week. We will return her home on Friday. Lucky for us another week with the three.

  7. Congratulate her for me on such a well-composed photo. Very nicely done.

Your dinner is exactly what I should be eating these days because I really need to lose some of the COVID-19 pounds I've gained since March before it's too late.

  9. You *are* so cute! And it is probably because you eat like a child. (And because you hang out with lovely people like your granddaughter who keep you happy and healthy.)

    1. I do laugh more with the little ones than with anyone else. Great endorphins, that's for sure. I love them so much.

    1. I'm sorry. We haven't seen "our" woodchuck in a few years. I was quite fond of it, and it seemed to like only parsley!

  12. Hazel Nina did a great job of framing the shot! Your supper looks delicious; my childhood favorite summer meal was corn on cob, fried okra, tomatoes, and watermelon. Although purple hull peas were also a favorite and I had them last week with the above, plus some for the freezer.

    1. I'll have to look up "purple hull peas". We grew Laxton's Progress #9 this year, and had a very good crop. I think I tasted okra only once. I should try some, if I can find it in the store.
