Bean Dip

On the twelfth day of Christmas we had our family Christmas down at Michael and Estée's house. A glorious time was had by all!!

I made these brownies and cheesejacks. Tom made his famous (in the family!) bean dip. Here's what he does.

In a crockpot, mix together:

And about 1/3 of this 2 pound package of cheese, grated. (Sorry, blurry picture)

Turn on crockpot to low until mixed together and nice and warm.

This is what it looks like part-way done. The cheese melted in a little more.

  2. I pulled off the cheesejacks to my desktop and wrote down the Bean Dip ingredients. No crockpot here but I'll just heat and stir. and maybe add some jalapenos??

  4. Love the look of that recipe. We don't have cans of refried beans but I'm sure I could improvise. The grandkids love my Spicy Beans which is similar, a can of ordinary baked beans, a can of sweetcorn, a couple of cans of beans such as red kidney and one other, mix well, dose liberally with Worcester sauce, BBQ sauce, tomato ketchup, sweet chili sauce and serve.

I've started Friday the Rabbi Slept Late and am really enjoying it.

    1. I went to the Amy's website, and this is what the ingredients are in the refried beans: organic pinto beans, filtered water, organic onions, organic high oleic safflower and/or sunflower oil, sea salt, organic garlic, organic spices.

    2. Thanks, Nan. I had refried beans in a Mexican restaurant in Pittsbugh once so at least I have some idea what I'm aiming for.

  5. I love the idea of using the crock pot for this dip. I've done something similar in a microwave, but the slow cooker is easier and you can serve from it. Brilliant!

    1. It was great! Ours has little clips that hold the top on so it was easy to transport!

  6. How lovely that you managed to have your family get-together now! I hope everyone is now over their colds or flus, and there won't be any more for the rest of the winter.

  7. I think we would all love these cheesejacks and that dip sounds delicious. Sad that this cheese is not sold around here and while amazon has some pricey Cabot cheeses, seriously sharp is not one. We love sharp cheddars.
