Quote du jour/William Cullen Bryant

We had rain during the night, then a touch of snow as it got colder and colder. 'Tis a beautiful winter's day.

This was in The Old Farmer's Almanac Engagement Calendar for the beginning of February.

Come when the rains
Have glazed the snow and clothed
the trees with ice,
While the slant sun of
February pours
Into the bowers a flood of light.

William Cullen Bryant, American poet (1794-1878)

    1. It so suited last evening and today that I just had to use it!

  2. Beautiful pictures. Love the header of your stove. Too cold for me though. It's low 40's at my house and I just about froze to death in the grocery store. All I know is that if you lose a little weight, you freeze to death. My hands have not been warm all winter. LOL

    1. The colder the better for me, Kay. It's maybe 10 degrees here now. It has dropped 24 degrees since the morning! Now that's my kind of weather. I remember our WW leader saying that you will always be cold when you've lost weight!!!

  3. Although we've had a little sleety rain that turned into snow on Sunday afternoon and evening, we're still far from having real winter weather. But I'm afraid we won't escape it altogether - I just hope it won't come in March or April, when really all we want is sun and birdsong, butterflies and flowers!
Your photos are beautiful; we have seen the sun so rarely in the past 4 or 5 weeks that we could really do with a bit of light.

    1. We can pretty much count on wintery weather into March and likely April, but by then the sun is stronger and the snowfalls melt quickly.

  4. What beautiful lyrical lines. We have seen that ice glazing the snow here this year, although we are back to all snow at the moment.

  5. Lovely quote! No snow or rain here. The sun is shining and the birds are busy at the feeders. It should be a lovely day tomorrow when we head inland to have lunch with Robin!
