Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!
Kalidasa, Indian sanskrit poet and dramatist - 5th century AD
Very beautiful and totally new to me. I do love the internet... well... 'mostly'. LOL
ReplyDeleteCath, you won't believe where I heard it! I bought the DVDs from amazon uk of the 2001-03 series 2000 Acres of Sky, and a man speaks the words to a young boy. I looked it up and found out whose words they were.
DeleteYES!
ReplyDeletemore now than ever.

Quite wonderful, I thought.
DeleteYes, I do, too.
ReplyDeleteLovely and your prayer flag header shot is a perfect illustration (perfect for anytime of course).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sallie.
DeleteSo lovely - and a new one for me as well. I will copy it to my Commonplace Book.
ReplyDeleteIt truly is lovely. I was so taken with the words. And think - all those years ago!
DeleteLovely...poetry can be so powerful
ReplyDeleteAt it's finest a distilled essence of how to live.
Thank you this was new to me.
Val, did you read my reply to Cath?! Did you ever see that show? You offered a good explanation of poetry. I loved it.
DeleteI thought so, too.
