Since Hazel Nina was about 6 months old, we've been taking care of her while her mother and father worked. For a year it was four days a week, and now it is two, but Tuesday has always been one of the days. And because Tuesday is voting day, Hazel has now been to the polls three times!
Here she is on November 4, 2014.
And the sticker from February 9, 2016 (don't know why we didn't take an inside pic).
Today she walked in and came upon a bake sale. Now she knows that voting means eating cookies!
Here she is waiting for the elevator to take us upstairs, cookie in hand.
Inside the booth with Pop. The woman told us 950 people had already voted and we were there around one o'clock. According to the 2010 census we only have about 2500 people in the whole town!
Afterwards we went to the playground next door.
Then she fell asleep. Voting takes it out of you!
And meanwhile, the animals say, "what's an election?"
I like New Hampshire's inclusive voting stickers/logo!
ReplyDeleteYes, me, too!
DeleteWe voted too. No lines even tho the lines were anticipated.
ReplyDeleteNo lines here, either.
DeleteLove these pics. I don't know why I thought you were from VT. I'm chewing my finger nails as I watch the results tonight.
ReplyDeleteI was born there, but have been here since I was four months old. My main worry is how people will respond no matter who wins. I want peace and reconciliation but I don't think they are in the cards.
DeleteTo associate voting with good things such as cookies and a visit to the playground is a good start for a kid :-)
ReplyDeleteReferring to your reply to Diane's comment - well, I guess there will be peace now in that Mr Trump certainly won't challenge the result, as he had planned to do in case it would not have been to his liking...
I think so, too!!
DeleteAnd that was a real concern I had.
Oh Nan.... peace and reconciliation would be good. Over here we had a similar devisive time when the country decided to vote to leave the European Union. It is the next morning here, and we know who is to be your next president. I do hope that you all get the peace and reconciliation you wish for.
ReplyDeleteI'm not one of those who thinks the world is gonna end because of this. I've lived through some pretty horrible presidents in my life, and life went on. I think we'll be okay. And I didn't like either of the choices. Bernie was my man.
DeleteAnd life goes on. Anyway. I am trying to be positive and go about my regular morning routine.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does. And you are always positive. Your pictures show the best of life, and make all the visitors to your blog feel better about everything!
DeleteGreat photos. I also love that you change out your blog header and explain where the photo was taken. Your farm is very beautiful and I would love to live in such a lovely area. We are in a rural area but have none of the beauty I see in your photos.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much. And thank you for noticing that I tell what the pic is of. It is a beautiful place. I mean to do more 'further afield' postings to show more of the area.
DeleteOh yes, I love your header changes and the explanations of where it was taken. It's a very novel idea and I haven't seen anyone else do it.
DeleteThanks, again!
DeleteSo glad you are more than ok Nan, I have US friends who are having hourly panic attacks. I think the big shock here was for the Brexit vote which is for ever while yours is for four years. One good thing about getting older /old is that one can take the long view more easily I think. Bernie was an inspiration but then I am a Jeremy Corbyn fan! May peace reign in our hearts and in the world. xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carole. And I'm sure you are a C. fan!! I just think of the Raffi song that I posted a while ago. 'All I really need is a song in my heart, food in my belly, and love in my family.'
DeleteWhat a great privilege as a grandparent to take your granddaughter with you to the polls!
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky! I say it every single day, and I am thankful every minute.
