Today's picture - Snack shelves

Today, for my Weekend Cooking entry, I'm posting a photo of my daughter-in-law Estée's 'snack shelves.'

There used to be snacks on the bottom shelves, too, but Campbell Walker helped himself! You may see on the right that the next shelf over has dog snacks. I think this is a great idea for parents of little kids or really anyone who enjoys snacks. My particular favorite is Mediterranean Medley.

  1. We rarely eat between meals - so no snack shelves are needed! Have a great week!
    Cheers from Carole's Chatter!

    1. Even as a kid I didn't eat many snacks. The only thing I really love is potato chips, but I don't buy them very often. ;<))

  3. I think it's a great idea to keep nutritious snacks around -- perfect for growing kids and active adults who crave a little something to tie them over to dinner.

    1. She really does try to provide the good stuff for her little boys.

  4. Good to have them all in one spot - and up higher for enterprising young men. Our Ezra managed to down two mini-bundt cakes I sent up north - all by his little self. While I was flattered that he thought the pumpkin bread to be good, he was certainly fired up by all the sugar. :)
The Mediterranean Medley looks good, Nan.

  5. When I see cranberries I don't think Mediterranean. This snack looks like something I could gobble up.

  6. I'll have to look for Mediterranean Medley next time I go to town. I like my shelves to be organized with like things together too!

    1. I also try and do this. Pasta in one place, etc. Makes it easier to know when I'm out of something.

  7. Nice to have them all in one place when the urge to nosh strikes or you are grabbing a snack to go. ;-) I agree that the Mediterranean Medley does look tasty!

  8. The Mediterranean Medley does look tasty! I like the idea of snack shelves - especially for kids. That'd save me a ton of time having to help figure out what they want and prepare it if they could just grab something off the snack shelf.

    1. Absolutely! And the shelves will be even greater when they are older.

  9. Mine is a snack drawer, not a shelf. Right now, though, what with me still moving things around in the aftermath of the Big Switch, the drawer is not in the sideboard, and the snacks are in a cabinet where I normally keep tools and other things. All will go back to normal soon, though, as I love my flat to be tidy.

  10. I'll have to look into getting some of the Mediterranean Medley! Looks delicious. Our snack shelf includes dried apricots, roasted (no salt) almonds, pita chips and Dove dark chocolate squares.

  12. Fortunately we have a door that my granddaughter can't open so the pantry and snacks are safe. For now. Glad you posted the Mediterranean Melody snack. I will look for it at Trader Joe's.

    1. For now. That's just about it, isn't it? Every day my granddaughter can do something new, and she's always way ahead of me!

  13. LOVE this! Both as a photograph to keep for posterity ... and as an illustration of how to snack in a healthy way.

  14. It is a good idea. When our kids were in grade school we had a similar shelf from which they could help themselves to after-school snacks. Fruit, peanut butter, nuts, that sort of stuff. It worked, nobody overate or became fat and they were still always ready for dinner but not starving for it.)
