How I love the first daffodils.
We've had some quite warm days, and more cool/cold days. Typical April.
The hen turkeys are off sitting on eggs somewhere, but there are up to six toms who are around most days.
And no picture ( I don't feel comfortable putting up pictures of other people's kids or grandkids) but I am a great-aunt for the first time! Tom's sister's son's baby. So this little girl is a second cousin to my grandchildren.
Our daffodils are just about over now, though we haven't had much in the way of spring temperatures yet. Welcome to the new baby!

DeleteCongrats on the new aunt status! I LOVE your photos of turkeys (all the wildlife) and I didn't know the toms would hang out together. Guess I thought there was the "main guy" and other males couldn't get along with one another.
ReplyDeleteWe are in process of planting many flowers now that the house is painted. It's looking better every day!
The turkeys impress me every day. They are unlike any creatures I've known. This year there were between 2 and 4 males who displayed - that is made themselves big with red, or white, or blue faces, draggint their feathers on the ground like a long skirt. And walking just a few inches apart. No fighting, no agression. Just big fellows on a slow stroll.I'm sure it all means something to them, but I love that they get along like that. Happy about your flowers.
DeleteNan, I must tell you this...today, my husband and I saw turkeys in a perfect circle! They were at the very top of a hill beside the road so I could only see their heads and long necks. I made him turn into the next subdivision so we could turn around and see them again! When we came back by I felt a bit foolish because they were so perfectly spaced out that I thought it must be some kind of nature sculptures. That is, until a few of the heads moved about! Have you ever seen this before? Do tell!
ReplyDeleteNot exactly, but they do rather "pose" sometimes. I love the thought of them in a circle. There is more mystery about them than I can ever solve.

DeleteI wish that daffodils didn't pass so quickly. I think they're my favorite flower of all. After 5 years of no turkeys here since the first year we moved, last week we had a flock, if a flock is what you call them. We were so excited to see them!
