Back by popular demand

Margaret didn't really plan on having a Hallowe'en party this year, but people asked and she did! Last year's party is here.

It was another warm evening. We haven't even had a frost yet! Unheard of around here. But it has meant that the lovely autumn has gone on for a longer time.

The kids and parents were down the hill until it got dark and then they made their way along the trail to our house. There were even more creepy delights than last year.

This one probably wins the creepiness award! Tom moved the tractor down into the field so the spider would have a home. There were battery candles that lit up at night.

And here is a closeup.

The "graves" were made of styrofoam.

There were lights along the road to brighten the path.

The two last pictures were taken as I walked down the hill, not up to our house. Margaret's driveway is to the left by the orange maple tree.

When the kids arrived at our house this is what they found.

Some views of the path after dark

It was a spooky, magical, and wonderful time! Again, we are so very lucky to be a part of it. Many people thanked us and I told them this is all Margaret and Matthew and Hazel. Year two of putting together a great party. One of the mothers took a picture of all the kids and put it on Instagram with the words, "Best Halloweeen Party Ever".

  3. That is a lot of spookiness and a lot of work! I do so like to read about Halloween. Not known here at all.

    1. I wonder where else it is a big deal. I'm quite sure I read that Hallowe'en has almost taken over Guy Fawkes day in popularity as the fall event in England.
Over here, it is a WAY bigger deal than when I was a kid or even when my kids were little. It seems to go on for weeks in one way or another. And the children have so much more candy than they used to!

  4. That figure by the tree is truly spooky - I think it would have freaked me out as a kid!
Such creative ideas, and by the looks of it, the label "Best Halloween Party Ever" was fully deserved!
Are they going to have a smaller Halloween party at home on the actual day?

    1. Yes, it is!!
I think there is trick or treating again this year, so that will probably be the actual day. And then there's a "trunk or treat" event put on by parents connected to the school. I think it is a fund raiser with toys and candy and costumes.

  5. I love this, Nan! So spooky but also lots of fun for kids and adults! That spider on the tractor - great! We're not sure what Halloween will be like in our new area. There are a couple of events down by the river with a movie and booths, etc., but that's on Saturday, the 30th. I did get some candy this year and we'll see if we have trick-or-treaters. I bet we do. Smaller town, etc.

    1. That will be so much fun if you get trick or treaters! And if not, you and H. can eat all the candy!

  6. How neat! we are looking forward to welcoming trick or treaters here for our first Halloween in this house. Most of the township comes to our part of the town to trip or treat so the PTO collects candy and supplements the candy supplies of the households around here. There is also a program called Teal Pumpkin which provides non food treats for kids with allergies and such. We signed up to do that too.

  9. Well done by all. I'm sure the kids...as well as the adults...enjoyed the party. It will be interesting to see how Halloween goes around here this year. We didn't participate last year because, of course, we weren't yet vaccinated but I remember seeing some pretty good foot traffic on the street. This year things are almost back to as normal as it is ever likely to get again, so we'll be ready to answer the doorbell again.

    1. I'd love to see a post on your Hallowe'en. We are out in the country and never have trick or treaters so that makes the parties even more fun - to have kids come to our house!
