A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the constant pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.
Albert Einstein
Posted today on instagram by Bhaskar Goswami whose yoga classes I do on youtube. You may find them here. I also mentioned him in another posting here.
Wisdom, of course....
ReplyDeleteLove it so much
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteWise words from a man who has intrigued me all of my life. His personal story is an amazing one.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the story is true that he didn't walk until he was four! I ought to read more about him. Such a kindly face.
DeleteHow very true. I love my quiet little life.
ReplyDeleteI know you do, and I hope things are going well. I haven't had a chance to visit blogs in a while.
DeleteHear, hear!
ReplyDeleteIf I had emojis - icons whatever they are called, I would use a nice smile.
DeleteI forgot to add that as I glanced at the photo, I initially wondered how you got a picture of my husband! :) His hair is getting to that "Einstein wild" look!
ReplyDeleteI love that hair!
DeleteWise, but did you read this? https://www.npr.org/2017/10/25/559963919/albert-einsteins-quote-about-living-a-modest-life-sells-for-1-3-million
ReplyDeleteWow! That's amazing!
DeleteOh Nan! thank you for that quote. So true. I have spent the last 4 weeks worried about a very sick sister, driving back and fore, trying to arrange things whilst she has been in hospital twice....my head was buzzing. Say I was chasing fame and money? it would be buzzing like that!! Now I have given myself 2 days rest while I wait for her discharge into a care home in her village which is absolutely where she wanted to be. We are both so glad, and so of course there is no longer any restlessness..... A calm and modest life for me every single time.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about you. I'm grateful there is a resolution that makes you both contented.
DeleteOld Albert was no fool!
ReplyDeleteI think it odd that Albert would say such a thing. He was always pursuing the next thought and trying to make people understand. Maybe this is how he came to this conclusion.
ReplyDeleteBut maybe he did it mindfully and focused.
DeleteOh, dear. Most of the time I am the epitome of calmness. One day last week I was anything but that. I vowed to not repeat it.
