A big day!

I got a text from Margaret this afternoon.
Hazel just asked can I go up there all by myself? She's been looking out the window up at your house to see if your car is there.
And this happened!

  3. I almost cried when I watched this earlier tonight. She must've had such a huge smile on her face, as I'm sure you did, too. She's growing up so quickly, but what fun you have in the coming years. What a sweetie. And, I love, love, love your new header. Welcome Home!

    1. The ending is kinda fast so you couldn't see the smile, but it is there. She was delighted. She came inside and we played and played. And her mum came up and we all played some more. She is amazing.
Do you remember that little book from 2000? I still love looking at it, and thought I'd just leave it out all the time.

    2. I vaguely remember that book! I still have my copy of Evenings at Five, which I used to leave out on a table in our living room.

    3. I just saw my copy the other day, and I wanted to read it again. The best cover, though a sad story.

  4. A milestone indeed! I remember the first time I was allowed to go to the corner shop for a bottle of milk on my own - with money in my tightly clutched little fist. I felt so BIG and proud! My Mum must have smiled, too.

  6. This is so wonderful! What joy for both of you, for all of you, that her family lives so close to you. I could walk to my Nana's house, too.

    1. I do love every second I am with Hazel, and Campbell and Indy. What is it Freddie Mercury wrote, "you make me live" - well, they do.
      Thanks for your kind words.

    1. We do still see her quite a lot, thank goodness! It was such a big deal that she came up with this herself!

  11. When I was five years old my parents built a small house next door to my Grampa Mac's farm. Until I married at age 19 I was at the farmhouse more than at my 'real' home. If night had fallen before I left for the short walk/run to my own dooryard, Grampa Mac turned on the porch light and stood at the end of the porch until he knew I was safely home. I nearly always ran. Hazel's approach to your house triggered that lovely memory.
