In early September I wrote about the blueberries we had bought during the summer. I am amazed to announce that just today we used the last of the blueberries I had frozen. Every day we've had a 1/2 cup each in our yogurt or smoothies.
We first bought them on July 27th which means that we get enough blueberries to have them for about ten months a year. I'm so delighted and can't wait to tell our neighbor the grower.
my freezer still full, also with cranberries and cherries from the market.
ReplyDeleteI put in yogurt and on a waffle...
Lucky you!!
DeleteWow! These blueberries were a good deal. I wonder if you will be able to purchase more in July. Love your header.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! He's been growing for years now. We are his only customers. He and his wife eat the rest.
DeleteIt is wonderful to have fruit that you pick yourself for the year. Yummmm It won't be long now.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't pick it - our neighbor did. We feel so lucky he is there!
DeleteWow! That's so excellent! Heathy and delicious!
ReplyDeleteWe're planning to pick blueberries this summer. I eat them on my yogurt every morning, too. We bought the most delicious strawberries at the farmers market last weekend. They came from the Willamette Valley and I don't think I've ever tasted any as good. We had strawberry shortcake two nights in a row! :) Delicious!
ReplyDeleteEven after we started traveling, when we had our "big" RV, before we left Oregon in the Fall, I would load up the freezer with blueberries we picked at Cyndi & Jeff's. Can't do that now of course and we must depend on frozen from the supermarket most of the time. Not the same at all. But we still eat them at least 5 days out of 7.
ReplyDeleteSallie, I'm going to start following your blog! You had me at RV and Oregon! :) We've recently moved to Depoe Bay and are also planning to travel in a 19' Escape trailer. I have a feeling I'll find a lot of good info from your blog. :) So, where is Cyndi & Jeff's? Family members or a farm?
DeleteHow wonderful! We love blueberries and pecans in our steel cut oats in the morning, so we go through a lot too. We have to buy them, but have some plants started. We are just waiting for them to "grow into" our demand. lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a blueberry lover, but I must comment on your wonderful header ... what are those beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteBaptisia australis, also known as blue wild indigo or false indigo. If you ever wonder about the blog header picture, there is a tab right underneath that says "blog header picture" where I explain it. Thank you for your interest. They are beautiful flowers.
DeleteThanks Nan. My daughter says that I seldom if ever read instructions so it follows that I missed the tab!
DeleteNan, I haven't had a lot of blueberries mainly because we don't get them easily in my neck of the woods.
