Just gone back to that post, Nan, and watched the little clip ... which reminded me of how much I love the film, so going to get it out of the cupboard and watch it - again!! I have a few more favourites, one of them is an American film, "Breaking Away" 1979, which cheers me up every time I see it!
I love this film - when we were having a CD clear out my husband said 'what do you want to keep this for'. I couldn't exactly explain why - but I put it back in the rack anyway - I have watched it many times and it always brings pleasure in the simplicity of the story.
I'll answer your comments as soon as I possibly can. Please do come back if you've asked a question. Also, you may comment on any post, no matter how old, and I will see it.
Mid August Lunch - ??? - one of my favourite films of all time. One Christmas I bought it for all my friends I love it so much!!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! I have seen it twice and just recently bought the dvd for myself. I plan to watch it each mid-August!
DeleteI meant to say, Susan, that I wrote about it on the blog here: http://lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com/2011/08/mid-august-lunch.html

I missed your earlier review, but this sounds exactly like MY kind of movie. There are so few of this sort made. Thank you so much for posting this!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost certain that you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI had to re-read your former review (and my comment to it) - still haven't watched this one.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great one!

DeleteI will have to look for this movie. I don't remember ever hearing about it.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite, quite wonderful! Very special.
DeleteNan, this sounds so delightful that I've moved it to the top of my Netflix list. I'm looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteBy golly they sure are right! Even Mrs Bales would agree. Even if she lived in Oregon. And I put the movie on my list.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sallie you will love it!
