Mrs Bale pops up on the blog for the first time in three years

The last time Mrs Bale appeared in my letters was three years ago this month. She is here to say that before Tom went to bed he read on one of his many weather-geeky sites that rain would begin at 11 pm tonight. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I heard it at 10.54.

I'm watching As Time Goes By again, and thought I'd post a picture of the very first time the 'Plantagenet face' makes an appearance.

  1. I use Accuweather.com on line sometimes and it will say "Rain lasting for 28 minutes" or "Snow beginning in 9 minutes." It is almost always correct within just a couple of minutes. Amazing!

  2. During my holiday last week, a fellow guest at the guest house where we stayed one morning said that rain was forecast for that day from about 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. And you know what - it started nearly precisely at 10, and stopped at 4!

  4. Can you believe I ignored As Time Goes By all these years and just last week began watching it? Then, only because Ms. Dench is in it and nothing else good was on. I'm hooked now.

    1. It is the best show ever! I own the whole set on DVD and it is worth every penny. I've watched it many, many times. Lucky you to be just beginning! Such a treat.

  5. Beautiful blooms on your header photo. Love seeing Mrs Bale again. I hope you don't get snow. Bah... Time for blooms and fun spring days.

    1. There's no smell like those plum blossoms! The forecast was changed to rain, but it sure is cold. Maybe it will kill off some ticks. Bad year for them here.

  6. Nan, did you ever see the movie, "84 Charing Cross Road"? Judy Dench had a very small role in that movie, but she was just so good, I well remember her performance.
(Today in Georgia, our high was only in the mid 70's, cool for us, but we loved it!!)

  7. Oh, Mrs Bale, how I've missed you! :) One of these days, I hope to watch all of the discs of As Times Goes By. I gave the entire set to my mom several years ago. I think it's be great fun to watch them with her when we settle in Oregon. Lyle cracks me up. Nothing like that program to make one laugh out loud. And I adore their flat, especially that quaint little kitchen.

    1. I so love the show. I think it is Jean's house, not a flat. It is attached to the houses on either side but I think it is just their building. It's a great space. It changes over the years just as one would change the paint or arrangement of things.

  8. I have missed Mrs Bale!! Wouldn't she love the weather apps we have nowadays. I bet she'd be on her cell phone as she went about her day checking the Channel. I'd love to watch this whole series again all at once in a row (not all in one day, you know what I mean I'm sure....).
