Again, Vanessa Redgrave's voice.
We would give children anything at Christmas, their passing fancies or their heart's desires, their frenzied crazes or the things they yearn for. We want to fill their hands because it fills our hearts. That is the secret of grownups everywhere.
It's so true...and I did hear it in Vanessa Redgrave's voice :-)
ReplyDeleteThose words she speaks at the start and finish of the show mean so much. I have many that I have posted here and more that I have jotted down.
DeleteHappy Boxing Day, Nan! I hope you and Tom had a lovely Christmas. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd that desire goes on no matter the age of our children. They tell us it's our time to just receive gifts not to give them but that's no fun.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that just so true!
DeleteHow I love that program! And always listen carefully to Vanessa's opening words. Simply one of the best programs ever. That and All Creatures Great and Small.
ReplyDeleteMary - aka littlemancat on the Google account which I can't seem to use today.
I'm with you. I love both those shows.
DeleteIt is harder to find the perfect gift for teenagers (I know all they want is gift cards but I hate to give up on creativity) but I can usually find things my mother and younger sister will like. I am proud of my twelve year old niece who has already written thank you notes, even to people she sees weekly like me (not that I have received it yet - I told her to save the stamp!).
ReplyDeleteI missed the special but should be able to find it online with my PBS Passport. I don't have Netflix at the moment because I never seem to catch up on the things I have DVRd but I do want to watch the last two seasons of the Crown so will have to succumb soon.
Happy New Year!
Constance
Thank you notes! Rare things these days. And yes, you can see it via Passport. I think the rest of the season begins in March, and then some time later it goes to Netflix.
