Today's picture/Week seven CSA flowers - 2018

You can see my huge tomato plants in the background!

Does anyone know what those pinkish flowers in the front are? There are three sort of clumps of them.

And in the house - this week in my mother's vase.

This would be week one of the second half of the CSA flowers. I'm thinking that next year I might change it up a bit, and buy flowers every week rather than be part of the CSA. She is open a few days at the farm, and then the Farmers' Market on Sundays. It would be less expense upfront for me, and the bouquets are a bit less expensive. Smaller, but that's okay. And I can pick and choose a bit. For example, this year her sweet peas were a great success, but they weren't in the CSA bouquets. She offered whole arrangements of just sweet peas! A bit of heaven.

  1. So beautiful as usual. I love that vase! I'm so glad you get these bouquets and share them with us! And they don't make my allergies act up. It's a win-win! LOL

    1. It's the only vase of hers I have, and may indeed be the only one she had and used. I do love it. Happy to give you a no-allergy treat!

  2. A kind of yarrow if I understand what you are asking about.

  4. Kristi has already helped you with the flowers, that's good - because I don't have a clue!
No matter their names, all of them are beautiful.
Good idea to make your own choices next year. Getting surprise bouquets is certainly lovely, but choosing your own makes a nice change.

    1. Yes, and I am not inclined to buy the 'extras' like sweet peas or the edible (which I did buy once) when I've already paid a lot for the CSA. It will be a nice change, and thanks for your support.

  5. Always love your flowers from the CSA! Nan, have you heard of a new book,France Is A Feast? It is by Alex Prudhomme and Katie Pratt. About Paul and Julia Child, with great photos by Paul himself. After I saw that film Me and Julia, I thought that her husband seemed fascinating too and turns out, I was right! They were both artists!

    1. Thanks, Kay. Yes! I have the book, and it is on top of a bookcase where I peek in most every day. Sometime I will sit down and read the whole thing in order. Wonderful, wonderful photographs!

  6. My market flowers (weekly buy) usually contain something like those pink ones as filler along with the more showy centerpieces of the arrangement ... pink, white, or purple ... and I don't know what they are either -- but they last beautifully.

I haven't seen sweet peas in so long .... here in Oregon they are an early Spring flower (before we get home) and as I have whined about too many times we don't have any of the usual early Spring flowers in Florida. (pay-back for no freezing gray rainy days and fair enough, but .....I want it all I guess!)

    1. Next year I will be like you, and I might post a weekly bouquet from either the farm or market! Have you ever thought of leaving Florida early so you could see those spring flowers??!

  7. Those are tomato plants? I thought it was a hedge! Your mother's vase is beautiful, Asian looking.

You probably do know more about what flowers you would choose if you could after having these gorgeous bouquets each summer. Do they deliver them or do you pick them up?

    1. It IS like a hedge! Only 2 plants! I can barely get into the little patio garden. Why is it that I can never, ever imagine plants getting so big when they are first planted?! We pick up the CSA flowers at the farm each Wednesday.

  8. What a beautiful vase! And the bouquet is just as gorgeous as all the others you've received. I also love your sunflower header. Amazing closeup with the busy bee in the center. :)

  9. The flowers are so very lovely. That was one of the things I enjoyed most about our trip to Saratoga, the grounds and flowers are so lovely. As for the racing, I'm not into it, I went for the hub:)

    1. Thanks. And I remember flowers in Saratoga, even after all this time. We saw horse racing only once - on a mid-90s trip to PEI. It was sulky racing. It was a lot of fun for the kids. We even made bets.
