I loved them and made bouquets all summer.
I wrote a note in my calendar to buy them again.
On May 30 this year, we wondered what was that ring of green?
We wanted to leave it because it didn't seem like any weed we had ever seen.
A month later, we saw it was a calendula patch!
I looked it up and calendulas are self-seeding! We considered thinning the patch but then thought we would let them grow as they would.
And what a success they have been!

So, now I'm wondering will this happen again next year?!

They are lovely, both on your table and the vegetable patch! I would have been surprised if they had NOT come back, unless you had pulled them all out at the end of last summer.

ReplyDeleteThe only plants that reseed for me are ones I don't want. (Actually not true, but it seems that way.) I will have to try calendula.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the header photo of yarrow. I got some yarrow for the first time this year and have it in a pot and will either get more this year or next year. Mine are white and pink.

Such a nice thing to say! I feared it was a bit blurry but I just love that RED! I have some white around but I always thought it was kind of a weed. I have a post in my head about how much I have learned about pollinators and how I changed the garden because of that new knowledge!
