Today's pictures/Snow in May

First - compare to the blog header picture which was taken April 25th!

We got a lot of snow!

The animals and chickens said "no thank you" to going out today.

I fear the daffs are gone. I didn't go out, but I can't see any blossoms. The daylilies can deal with snow but the cold has hurt the tips of the leaves. From now on warm temps and sunshine please!

These flowers from two different growers sure do cheer up the house.

  3. Wow, when I saw that you were expected to get snow in the Northeast, I wondered how much you would get in Maine. 6 inches in May! Have you ever seen the like before? We had a cold front here in Georgia yesterday and our low was 45 and our high was 65, very cool and breezy. Very unusual and most welcome!
Take care, Nan! I love the contrast of your two photos!!

  4. You certainly did get a lot of snow....We got some but it melted quickly even though it continued in a lazy way all throughout the day. Nothing stuck. Your animals are smart!

    1. They are smart! And they went out today as the snow melted away and didn't mind the cool temps. We even had some sun peeking through.

  5. Unbelievable! We just had the nasty winds and had to bring me new flowers in.

    1. I know you meant "my" but I love the "me" - just like the Irish.

  7. We just got the cold. I bet those daffodils will rebound. That has happened here before. Love the silhouette in the snow.

  8. It is almost cold enough here for snow - 6 Celsius, which means padded coat and scarf for me! But although I loved last week's early summer feeling, I am very, very glad about the rain. We desperately needed it.
Snow at a time when already the flowers were out is so weird, isn't it! The picture of your animals looking towards the snowy outdoors would make a beautiful Christmas card.

    1. Usually we have some snow and cold weather in the spring, but I think this is only the second time in the past few years it appeared in May.
Thanks about the photo. Tom took it.

    1. We gave the pansies to our friends whose son died. They lived on my shelf for two weeks, waiting for warmer weather.

  11. So many of my friends in other parts of the country were impacted by this snow storm, bomb cyclone? Hard to fathom from Louisiana, where we are so thankful it isn't yet uncomfortably hot and humid. I sit in different spots outside to write in my journal each morning and it's been glorious. Birds singing, wind chimes ringing out in morning breezes, fountains gurgling in the backyard, plus muted sounds of a city neighborhood that still has lots of activity as we slowly enter phase 1 reopening from the pandemic. I plan to stay at home for awhile, however, with the sounds of nature.
