It is strange, but for the last several years the June bugs here in North Louisiana arrived in May. Each year it happened, I was a little concerned about a connection to climate change. This year, the only June bug I've seen was two days ago. Now, I'm worried about the delay!
I found a site for kids that explains them a bit. https://www.bugfacts.net/june-bug.php And this site explains that they are called June bugs and May beetles! https://www.britannica.com/animal/June-beetle Sounds like they can be destructive, but we've never had enough to matter.
I should keep track to see if we have them every year or not. I expect weather would be a factor in when/if they appear. So much to learn in this world!
It is amazing to me what bugs live where, and how some seem to be everywhere. Thanks about the header. Apple blossoms are everywhere I go these days. And all the trees on our land are full of blossoms.
Ha...this isn't what we call a June Bug. Our June Bug is a big squareish green bug. I will post a photo when I see one. They should be emerging at any time.
Oh, Nan, I absolutely adore June bugs! Problem is, they don't seem to live for very long. I love the totally unique buzzing sound that they make. What a Perfect BUG! Here's my toast to the specialness of June Bugs! (Also love that header photo!)
I have an irrational fear of June bugs. Ever since some of them got caught in my hair when I was a child. I know they don't hurt you but I start stomping and screaming when they come near me. My husband thinks I'm so weird.
