I could not live without a dog. Every dog we've had has been wonderful in her or his own way, but the Labrador is all love, all the time. Not a mean bone in her body.
Ah yes, Ben Fogle. We watch his programme where he visits people who've decided to live off the grid away from civilisation... tropical islands, deserts, wild parts of the US and so on. Very interesting but can't remember the title of it. Just Googled it, it's called New Lives in the Wild and it's from our Channel 5.
My Chcolate lab, Mishka, was the best dog in so many ways. He was with me through the teenage years. Such love and support. He was with us the longest, 15 years.
Your dog looks very gentle and sweet, Nan. I've never owned a dog but have dogsat several. It's hard for us to own a dog because we travel too much. My husband loves dogs and doesn't want to put a dog in a kennel so many times.
Labradors are THE BEST! Wendy the Wonderdog was my joy. We could never replace her. I would love to get another dog, I miss the affection, but we go away too much now. Maybe in the future.
We don't go away much at all! You can't ever replace a dog. We still talk about all the other dogs. We'll see Lucy do something that one of the previous dogs used to do.
I've never been a huge dog fan, mostly as I didn't think it was fair all the years we weren't home all that much. Cats were just easier for us, however, we did own (2) Cocker Spaniels, both of which we re-homed once we had babies as both were jealous of the kids. Your Lab is very sweet and seems like a great match for you and the grands.
Of course now there is doggy day care and doggy sitters for working people. Amazing, isn't it. Our main criteria in choosing a Labrador was how they were with other people. Everything we read said that if you want a guard dog, don't get a Lab! And it's true. She loves everyone. Can absolutely trust her.
I'll answer your comments as soon as I possibly can. Please do come back if you've asked a question. Also, you may comment on any post, no matter how old, and I will see it.
Love that picture of your sleeping pup!! Someone once told me that everyone has that "one" dog that is their true love. Annie-dog was mine.
