Spring Reading

Spring begins tomorrow at 5.29 am my time, and this is the book I plan to begin reading.

I've read the first three and so loved them. Here are book reports for the others, if you want to know who The Penderwick family is.

1. The Penderwicks

2. The Penderwicks on Gardam Street

3. The Penderwicks at Point Muette

  1. Cute. I wonder if I could find a "spring" book. You have given me inspiration. :)

  2. I've only read the first Penderwick book. I love the cover artwork, too, on this series. Also love your photograph of the thawing road. It was almost 80 here today.

    1. That picture was taken Feb. 23! I haven't changed it because it mostly has stayed the same except for the interval of a foot deep snow the other day! But now it is melting and the road looks like the picture. haha. As I write this, it is 32 here.

  3. Seasonal reading is wonderful, isn't it! I mostly do it around Christmas time, since I do not know enough books explicitly fitting the other seasons, except for maybe Robert Sabatier's "Summer Children" or a few other, summer-themed ones.
I remember your other Penderwicks reviews. They really sound like something I'd enjoy.

    1. It is fun. In fact, I find it hard to read about winter in the summer, etc. These are lovely books.

    1. And that will be it, from what I've read. Such a good set of books. I'll buy them for my grandchildren when they are older.

  8. Nan, I'm familiar with The Penderwicks series though I haven't read any of the books. I like the cover of "The Penderwicks in Spring." I think it's cool. It makes me want to read it on a lazy Sunday afternoon, alone and undisturbed for a couple of hours.

  9. For some reason, I thought you were going to mention a book by Jean Little which I often think of this time of year, Spring Begins in March, depicting siblings who love each other but squabble in a very realistic way. It's a sequel to Mine for Keeps; both of which I think you would like.

I enjoyed the first Penderwicks but never had the chance to read the rest of the series. Must get back to them!

  10. CLM recommends a great author. Jean Little is a wonderful Canadian children's writer! I've loved all the books by her I've read, especially Hey World Here I Am! and From Anna.
I have the Penderwicks out from my school library to read, but they are also available on audiobook from my library. So I'll definitely read them.

    1. I'll look into those as well. Thank you.
I ended up not reading the P. book. I went into a bookstore and found a book I just had to read.
