A great, great Christmas album! So nice to hear We Three Kings. And Auld Lang Syne with the L in Lang pronounced. And Silent Night with all the verses. And two wonderful rocking songs - Merry Christmas, Baby and Red-Suited Superman. Every song is a winner, and there are some terrific duets. Well worth buying. He even brings Ella Fitzgerald back from the dead to sing What Are You Doing New Year's Eve.

It's a beautiful tree. Ours isn't up yet. Soon I hope. It's 80 here. Sorta takes the fun out of the tree stuff. LOL

Love your tree! So much fun to cut down your own. I have the Rod Stewart cd waitlisted on interlibrary loan but I think I will just go and buy it. I love the way he does the oldies now (and am digging that blue plaid jacket!).

Oh, your Christmas tree has spaces between the branches! Why in the world can't nurserymen grow them that way? I drive my husband crazy each year looking for a tree with spaces. Such a pretty tree in its lights.

DeleteWe haven't put up our tree yet - the pine needles would all have dropped before Christmas! Rod Stewart is one of my favourite singers - he was on TV (the X Factor) here last night singing Merry Christmas Baby - I must get his CD.
ReplyDeleteWe have fir balsam not pine. They will last inside a month. A few drop but not many. And of course this was as fresh as could be!!

That explains it! We've only had Christmas trees that shed their needles as soon as you bring them into the house, so we've resorted to an artificial tree that is looking rather the worse for wear now and is just not the same as the real thing. :)

ReplyDeleteI much prefer old-style Christmas lights and snap up any I see second hand. The modern LED ones are just too dim and lack the sparkle of the old ones.
Give in to that temptation! It's so worth owning.

Oh, I just loved this. Rod doesn't look or act a whole lot different. We first 'met' him when he was with Jeff Beck. I think if he had stayed, then Beck would have been way more popular than Led Zep. I keep meaning to put 'Drinkin' Again' on the blog. Only in the past few years did I find out it was written by Johnny Mercer! He was doing the standards way back when.

I love your Christmas tree! Lots of space to hang dangly ornaments, or put popcorn chains or any other kind of chains on! And I love the big lights. They are the lights of my childhood, too. My brothers and sister and I would actually unscrew them while they were plugged in and change the colors around. Some of those babies were hot! Of course, we shouldn't have been doing it and our mother didn't know. Sadly, we don't do a real tree anymore. The only space we can put one in our house is near a heat register and it dries out too much. But I miss the scent and fun of going and cutting one down. My artificial tree is pretty, but it's nothing like the real thing!

DeleteI still occasionally change a bulb if there are, say, two blues in a row. And yes they are hot! I will take 'real' lightbulbs anyday over the new energy savers, which btw have mercury in them!
How about closing the heat register for a few weeks? Do you have enough others to keep you warm? And then you could just water it more often. I think you can do this!
