  1. It's getting to be that time of year!

  2. Reminded me of my childhood, when I lived at the bottom of an unmade (no tarmac) road. Loads of these little thinly iced puddles, and they had a particular sound when cracked! Thanks Nan, and your header pic is beautiful.

    1. Our road is definitely 'unmade' :<)
I was lucky to get both those shots. The light was gorgeous.

  3. Beautiful. Our birdbath was frozen yesterday as it is this morning no doubt.

    1. I'll have to talk to you about birdbaths sometime. One day birds used ours. One day and that's it. Maybe because there is a stream nearby?

    2. Are there trees near the birdbath? I've been told they don't like to visit a birdbath unless they can fly quickly to a tree (or bush).

      Enjoy your cold temps! ;)

    3. There are. It was also tucked into a patch of daylilies so it wasn't out in the open.

  4. Absolutely beautiful, both the header and the puddle.

    1. Thank you. There's nothing like a cool, crisp sunny morning after a cold night.

  5. Beautiful photo, Nan. It makes me feel all Christmasy. The lines made me think of sleigh tracks. The header photo is incredible, too.

  6. Can I confess I want to jump on that puddle to hear the satisfying crackling sounds :0)

  7. We haven't had that kind of frost here yet. It's so pretty to look at but it also makes a fun sound when you step on it ;)

  8. I love a frozen puddle. I remember as a kid in Minnesota crunching my way through these on my way to school. I also like the kind where the ice kind of wheezes and squeaks as it bends right before breaking through.
