On 'our Paulie's' 68th!

The words are not in sync, but still... this is the song that made me fall in love with Paul McCartney when I was a young girl watching the Ed Sullivan Show all those years ago.

  4. Happy Birthday Sir Paul!!!! You have written some of the songs that are closest to my heart!!

Nan, do you know the song Mull of Kintyre? Not sure I spelled that correctly; but it is one he did solo. It is so gorgeous!

  5. I'm so pleased you each wrote! I couldn't resist posting the song.

    Ah yes, Pamela!

I agree Call Me Madam- those two are wonderful.

Lisa, isn't it amazing! Such a little thing, that hair, compared to tattoos, piercings, gauged ears!

And Laura I do know that song, but thank you for reminding me. I hadn't thought about it in a long time. I found a youtube with views of the place while the song is playing. Not all clear but still you can see the beauty.

  7. To this day, I believe the Ed Sullivan appearance on February 9, 1964, was a special birthday gift just for me. Sigh...

And the ladies in the audience--we were a well dressed young generation, were we not? Wish I still had my black cat's eye glasses! :)

  10. Kay, me too! The picture is scallions, garlic scapes, and the first lettuce - all from my garden. Great time of year!

Marcia, and mine was 16 days later! And then the next year when I was seventeen, they sang 'she was just seventeen' -certainly with me in mind. :<) I can't believe those glasses are back - I thought they were so ugly and I was thrilled to get my wire rims like John's a few years later. Both Tom and I still have wire rims!

Sherri, I had a chance to see him a few years ago, and didn't. I've regretted it ever since. :<(

Susan, I love your words, 'fresh and fine' - they are absolutely perfect.

  12. Vintage Reading, I liked them both - just about equally, along with a lot of those early bands: The Dave Clark Five, Gerry and the Pacemakers.
