First leeks

I harvested the first of the leeks this hot afternoon, and these little freezer bags represent five batches of Gladys Taber's Leek and Potato Soup.

  3. Raidergirl, I just chop them up and put them in the bags.

Rachel, this soup is the only way I use them, and the taste is just heavenly.

  4. Nan, when we arrived home from meeting the new granddaughter on Friday, we found the deep freeze had developed a fault and all the contents had to be thrown out. All my lovely soups and pies! I was heartbroken but you've inspired me to begin again with some new season leeks.

  7. ummmm yummy! Not too many people in the west know of the delicious-ness of leeks! Born a little dutch girl, my mother was a huge fan and thrilled she could buy leeks here in the states!
