I love this photo. What a wonderful, moving day. We have snow so it's been a perfect day to lay around and watch this historic event. I've been in tears for much of it.
Nan, I have been watching today's events her in the U.K. on the T.V and computer, am so grateful to have been able to see history being made. So many moving moments, a speech not of idealogical rhetoric, but almost Churchillian in it's call to everyone to work and face the challenges ahead. I suspect he touched the hearts and minds of people all across the globe, and let us hope and pray that we can really change the mess that exists on so many levels, in whatever ways we can. I thought of you, and how proud you must feel today, to be an American.
Thumbs up to our new president and his family. At work we watched the day unfold for the new president looking at CNN on our computers. We drank champagne and ate pizza!
I quietly visit you everyday Nan. I just had to share a comment on this hopeful day.
I loved the quartet that played before Obama was sworn in and the poem was elegant.
Thanks to each of you for taking the time to come by with your thoughts on the picture and the very special day. I looked for ages to find just the one that expressed in an image my own feelings about Inauguration Day. I was in tears a lot myself, Linda. I watched at home alone, but my kids and I were texting back and forth which was delightful. Tom managed to work it so our tv now gets PBS and I was so happy to be able to watch. I wonder if an Inauguration speech has ever said anything about 'nurturing a child.' That really touched me.
Don't you just love them all! I feel as if a giant weight has been lifted from around my shoulders. One that has been there for ... let's see... eight long years! I am so very proud of my country again!!
