Today's picture/Eggs


We're now getting around a dozen eggs a day from the chicks who were born last May.

  2. Tom sells quite a few at his school. We figure the eggs sold pay for the grain, plus we get fresh eggs for ourselves so it's a great deal!

  5. What a healthy and fun way to live. I've tasted fresh eggs and they've left me thinking: "then what on EARTH are those things in the supermarkets?" There's nothing, nothing like a fresh egg.
    Someday I hope we can have that life too. We're working on it.

  7. Joyce, if you click on 'chicks' in the post, you can read all about our chickens. They are Dominiques, probably the mothers and fathers of the RI Reds.

  8. Those Dominickers are beautiful chickens. THey lay wonderful eggs too. Yummm...I have always wanted chickens. I guess I will never have the pleasure but I enjoy reading about them and seeing pictures of them.

  10. I like mine fried, over easy, served on a piece of wheat toast. Next best way is scrambled, sometimes with sauted mushrooms and tomatoes.

  11. I like my eggs poached or lightly boiled - then I can dip soldiers (thin cubes of bread) in the runny yolks.

  13. I fry a little onion, some cilantro if I have it, then add an egg beaten with a dash of milk and a pinch of salt.
    I do like eggs, and I'll eat them any way, but I like my scrambled recipe best.
