But when I got a tiller for my birthday, my husband took me to the store to buy it. Keep in mind I was 7 months pregnant. I told the guy I wanted one that I could start all by myself so he took me outside with the Stihl, showed me how, and then had me do it on my own. All the power took guys standing there had a great time watching me with my big belly start the Stihl. But I loved it and bought it right there on the spot.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01029244567686979589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-31866212777846911282007-07-15T17:58:00.000-04:002007-07-15T17:58:00.000-04:00Oh, he's more coordinated than I am. I don't really want to mow in the heat we have here anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-38988236839574026102007-07-15T10:32:00.000-04:002007-07-15T10:32:00.000-04:00Kay, what about Hayden's foot? :Lesley, everything...Kay, what about Hayden's foot? :<)

Lesley, everything is lush here. We've had ideal weather conditions this summer to create that green grass. A bit too much rain for some, but gosh, that green is beautiful.

Catherine Mary, I bought a push mower a few years back, but the grass has to stay quite short in order to use it. We tend to let ours grow a bit longer, which I've read is good for the lawn, and the push mower was always getting clogged and just wouldn't go through the taller grass. Last year we got a rider mower for the bigger lawn, and it is a huge help. It used to take ages to mow. (And I have referred to mowing as vacuuming the lawn and vacuuming as mowing the house!)Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-77098028715727481582007-07-15T10:13:00.000-04:002007-07-15T10:13:00.000-04:00We use an old fashioned push lawn mower. And don't you love the smell of freshly mown grass??? I used to be allergic to grass and would have to run when it was being mown and now I can enjoy that wonderful, sweet summer smell.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05306674979528881706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-91409102396626483552007-07-15T08:54:00.000-04:002007-07-15T08:54:00.000-04:00I'm back; commenting twice to the same post. I remembered the push mowers of years gone by and now making a comeback for ecological reasons. I do love the old push mowers with their wooden handles and revolving blades. It was fun to see the grass cuts popping up over the blades as you cut the grass and the smell of freshly cut grass went with the chore. Aromatherapy and exercise all in one.Catherine Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18144338744214025896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-3104267342566077412007-07-15T08:32:00.000-04:002007-07-15T08:32:00.000-04:00Congratulations on your new easy-to-start mower. T...Congratulations on your new easy-to-start mower. There will be no excuses now for letting the grass grow long. When we had an electric mower I could cut the grass--it always reminded me of vacuuming, which I like to do. The "boys" do the lawn now because they bought a gas one. I've offered to do the lawn but they have to pull the cord.Catherine Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18144338744214025896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-7396084142855335462007-07-14T16:17:00.000-04:002007-07-14T16:17:00.000-04:00I wish I didn't have to pull that darn cord too, N...I wish I didn't have to pull that darn cord too, Nan. Maybe the 'designers' of mowers are slowly catching on that woman DO mow the grass, and that we are not as strong as the guys? I have to wear support bandaging when I mow, just to start the mower. Anyway, it's lovely to see you doing similar things to me in your part of the world - your grass looks even more lush than mine! You wouldn't like to some over and do mine as well, would you? ;-)Lesleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04269779273734120571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-73599472779941111012007-07-13T14:38:00.000-04:002007-07-13T14:38:00.000-04:00Very nice. Actually, our nephew came and did the mowing. H. won't let me mow because he thinks I will cut my foot off. I probably would! Ha!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
