We have something called ground hornets that are awful; you step on their nests and get stung repeatedly. Then there are hornets that come around outside food.

Nicola wins scariest comment!Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-11833130896661170012008-08-22T20:33:00.000-04:002008-08-22T20:33:00.000-04:00We call that kind a hornet's nest, too. I've never been stung, but I have an incredible fear of wasps, hornets, even bumble bees (anything with a stinger) to the point where I should probably seek therapy! I'm not sure where my phobia comes from - maybe it's something to do with poking and needles - I can't even get my ears pierced!alisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02753238295390712514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-62402057706203571492008-08-21T05:33:00.000-04:002008-08-21T05:33:00.000-04:00That's beautiful. My husband cautiously lifted the attic hatch and retreated fast, having seen an enormous wasps' nest. Called in the pest control officer who did the deed but told us there were no less than 14 nests in that attic (separate from the main loft, and we never use it). One of them, immediately above our bed measured four feet wide by four feet high!

We just don't go there...Nicola Sladehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03076176253820195827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-69015411177206463272008-08-20T23:05:00.000-04:002008-08-20T23:05:00.000-04:00WOW Nan that is an amazing nest and piccie!WOW Nan that is an amazing nest and piccie!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09542425639950850366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-10885713624661318522008-08-20T22:59:00.000-04:002008-08-20T22:59:00.000-04:00So cool! Growing up, they seemed to always choose our front porch to make their home, and unfortunately had to be "invited to leave".Joycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10463831506588682774noreply@blogger.com
