I've read only one called Absent in the Spring. I was pretty amazed by the human element in it. More here about those books:

http://www.agathachristie.com/about-christie/the-queen-of-crime/mary-westmacott/

I am sure you'll love the Companion book.

Rebecca, I wonder if I will ever read them all! I have read Dorothy L. Sayers, and I love her work. I've read just one Allingham, and intend to read more. Marsh I haven't read. Thanks for the recommendations. There are two book reports on the blog - one on a DLS and one on a MA. Here are the addresses if you'd like to read them. I'm especially fond of the first one.

http://lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com/2007/11/book-reportthe-unpleasantness-at.html

http://lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com/2010/06/mystery-mile-by-margery-allingham.htmlNanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15547916206007733970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-46043339311271027682011-03-14T01:35:00.212-04:002011-03-14T01:35:00.212-04:00I've so enjoyed Agatha Christie - I found her ...I've so enjoyed Agatha Christie - I found her wow - almost 20 years ago now and have read and re-read all of her books. I was so disappointed in having no 'new' Christies that I searched for more British cozy mysteries and I'm so glad I did! As you enjoy Christie, I know you will also enjoy Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy Sayers, and Margery Allingham - all wonderful story tellers. Right now my current favorite in Marsh, but at different times in my life it's been Christie, Sayers, or Allingham. It's amazing how often I come back to these books - even after the excitement of figuring out 'who-dun-it' is gone.

All of these ladies are masters at plot and character - so lovely! Thanks for reminding me of Agatha's short stories - I'm off to re-read it now!Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06397742748387408175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-68687338495858130952011-03-13T19:02:19.659-04:002011-03-13T19:02:19.659-04:00I've written down the Reader's companion a...I've written down the Reader's companion and both short story collections. The latter two for Kindle -- the first for a 'keeper' book (rare with my lifestyle as you know).

I am on a Jane Marple mini-challenge (my own) then on to Poirot. Love the Kindle for making highlights of Agatha's insights into life -- she is SO much more than a mystery story writer!

Thanks for the reviews.Sallie (FullTime-Life)http://www.travelingrainvilles.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-45320236941711735392011-03-13T12:46:44.764-04:002011-03-13T12:46:44.764-04:00Sweet is a good adjective for him, Margot. I haven't read this one yet. I have a ways to go to get to this one although I could just read a few at a time, couldn't I?

I like Hastings too. I love how he is always so confident that he knows what's really going on. The actor who portrayed him got his gentle befuddlement just right.
Meanwhile, I'm not sure I was aware that Agatha Christie wrote short stories, so I will definitely look them up. Just what the doctor ordered for the remaining cold weekends ahead.Karenhttp://www.bookishnyc.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049626897935912366.post-21692893330147824802011-03-11T14:45:35.804-05:002011-03-11T14:45:35.804-05:00Oh, Yvette, me too! And you know, I was so glad to have him back for, I think, THE ABC MURDERS.

More short stories I don't remember reading. So I'll have to see if I can find this book at the library one of these days. I'm shortly beginning a Mary Roberts Rinehart read-a-thon. Ha! Well, as soon as the books I ordered come in at the library anyway. I was surprised to find about 5 of her books still on the shelves. Ordered them promptly.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.com
