Ah, spring!

We had an all day snow yesterday, and the weather folks say we got 22 inches. Best snow of the winter, and it isn't even winter anymore! I shoveled for a couple hours, and then Margaret and Hazel walked up while Matthew rode the four wheeler and plowed out the parking area, and a path for the oil delivery tomorrow.

I don't think there is any day in a year that is so beautiful as this. Bright white snow, blue blue sky, and warm sun that is melting the snow. Perfect.

  1. That's a lot of snow in one day! I'll bet it was beautiful as it fell. Nice to have helpers who live nearby. :) I love white snowy landscapes with bluebird skies. Enjoy!

    1. Not so beautiful as it fell because Margaret was on the road to and from work!!

  2. I can't even imagine that much snow! How beautiful it is and you're right, it is a gorgeous sight with the blue sky and sunshine. That's a sweet snow angel!

  3. What wonderful photos, Nan. I love photos of other people's snow. I just wanted to pop in and tell you some very sad news as I suspect you've not seen my latest blog post. My husband, Peter, died suddenly of a heart-attack just over a week ago. It is pretty devastating as you can imagine but he did not suffer for long so I'm grateful for that. Also grateful for my two girls who have been utterly wonderful in supporting me. Take care. xxx

    1. Thought I'd check in with you as I read there was another big snow storm. Hope you are well and will post more lovely photos. It's so pretty where you live.
Also, connecting again with my book friends, I started book blogging again :-)

    2. Oh yes, but it was "only" about 9 inches instead of 22. All gone now. I am SO happy you are blogging again. I haven't been in the blogging world very much, and I've missed it.

  8. Wow, that stuff is gorgeous, Nan. It's something I've never really much experienced for myself other than just walking through it four or five times in my entire lifetime. It always seems like a shame to be the first one to leave footprints in such a beautiful surface. But who can resist? ha

  9. Wow, such a blue sky! I don't think I've ever seen snow that deep, we used to get 18 inches or so every now and again when I was growing up in Kent.

  10. It is beautiful but I hate shoveling! My snow plow person is not supposed to come unless there is more than 3 inches of snow but I suspect - because Boston's winter has been icy but not snowy - that he races over while I am sleeping to plow before I can tell him not to. He did remove a fallen tree which was extremely expensive so I am sure I and others are still paying for his annual trip to Ireland...

    1. It took me a long time to shovel! Today it is about 60 outside and sunny so snow is forgotten.

  11. Oof -- Before I checked the date of your post I thought this was even more current , because as usual I'm behind on visiting. Sure hope you're not snowed in by now and that spring is on its way at the Hill Farm! However, it is (was?) beautiful and its lovely to see your granddaughter enjoying it to the fullest.

    1. You are so dear. I write so infrequently these days that I am surprised anyone stops by! Thank you. And yes, spring has sprung but I've heard snow in the forecast. Not surprising in April, but hoping not too much.

  12. My goodness! It really is beautiful! I sometimes miss the license to stay home when a big snow is coming, and the "scritch" of fresh snow under your boots when you venture outdoors afterwards. Glad you came through okay (my relief is belated!) and are getting things sorted afterwards.

    1. More on its way, but it won't last long. The spring snows are short-lived and rarely as deep as this one was!
