Second garlic harvest 2022

Today we harvested the other two varieties of garlic that Tom planted back in November.

This is Music, a hardneck with big cloves. We got 31 bulbs.

What High Mowing Seeds has to say about it:

A large, beautiful variety that is easy to grow! Slightly spicy flavor is hot raw and sweet roasted. Originally from Italy.

The third variety is called Chesnok Red.  88 bulbs.

From High Mowing:

From the Republic of Georgia. ("That Georgia's always on mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi mind").

And here's what the porch looks like! I feel like a queen.

    1. I use garlic in almost everything we eat, and it should store well.

  3. Wow! You are the monarch of garlic, for sure! Well done! We have a potato growing in our compost bin, does that count?!

  4. We really should do this as I put garlic, and lots of it, in so many recipes that I buy it by the big bagful. We had lots of pretty garlic growing and blooming here for 6 years that we didn't pull simply because the bees loved it and it was so pretty. This summer there are only leaves, no flowers so maybe we need to pull them up and start all over again? Do you braid it and hang it somewhere?

    1. Is it wild garlic that you had growing for years? This - https://www.thespruceeats.com/what-is-wild-garlic-435437 Lucky, lucky you! I would love to have a source of that! And we'll see how the braiding goes. haha

  5. Such abundance, and certainly something to be grateful for. I love that smell when garlic is being fried in olive oil. Works for me every time!

  6. Everything we cook uses garlic (except maybe the breakfast oatmeal ;>)) so this harvest looks wonderful! Is there a great taste difference between the two varieties? We never did grow it back in our gardening days.

    1. I love it that you use so much! So far, we've only used one of them, so not sure about different taste.
