It was a year ago today...

...that we picked up the kittens.

And you can see them now in the blog header! We are so thankful for Gemma and Maisy!

  1. Well, that was one fast year and, (2) cats during the pandemic is even more reason to be thankful. We are so happy we have our 2 who have been with us 2 years now,

  2. Awwww...what a lovely memory. They are still the cutest kitties.

  3. They are gorgeous now. The black and white one looks evil, at both ages. But I suspect she is not.

    1. Oh my gosh, how strange! She is the sweetest, most lovey cat. Wild with love for us.

    2. You are lucky to have had them since they were kittens. Our cat is sweet, loving and affectionate, but it took a few years for her to get so affectionate and trusting. She was about 3 years old when we got her.

    3. They were different than kittens we've gotten in the past - just being in a cage and then let out into a little room sometimes. They have some idiosyncrasies. They want me to put down their food rather than keep it down all the time. And it did take a bit of time to be completely trusting. They may have been born there, but I'm not sure. If not, they were very young when they arrived at the shelter. Hazel and her family are the only visitors we've had since they arrived! They will at least appear if they are here, but still not going up to them or anything. This is so different from our late Raya who was the Perle Mesta of cats. A real welcomer of anyone who came through that door.

  4. I seem to remember when you first introduced them to us, Nan! Gemma and Maisy have fast become fully fledged family members, I guess.
One day (probably when I retire) I'll have one or two cats sharing my place with me again, too.

  5. Your blog headers are always the best. It's nice to see how they grew. Beautiful cats.

  6. They're lovely girls and I can hardly believe it's a whole year since they came to live with you. And their names - sweet!

  7. Cute ones! You have a very neat desk. I'm trying to keep mine neat since it's out in the open now.

    1. I love my desk. It is an old "settle" I think they call it. It can also be a sitting bench with a high back. There's a funny story. After my father, who owned a Pontiac garage, died, there were still outstanding bills. An older man gave my mother the settle as payment! I so love it. Under all the books is a little cupboard, but I don't use it because it would mean moving all the books off!

  8. Oops, look what a reader misses when she is late catching up ... all I see on the header shot is a beautiful dog in the lovely snow! I hope the kitties are inside where it’s warm and cozy.

    1. We never, ever let our cats out. Years ago we did, and lost two to coyotes and two to fishers. No more. Not ever. These two don't have a clue what outdoors is other than sitting in the window watching the birdies!
