One of the many, many glorious things about living so close to our daughter and her family is that we are often included in their get-togethers.
Because there is no trick or treating this year, Margaret decided to have a Hallowe'en party. The people who came are all those that they see regularly, and/or children Hazel knows from school. And it was an outdoor party so everyone felt comfortable. And thankfully, there are no cases in our town.
Matt and Margaret and Hazel decorated their house, yard, and made a little "haunted trail" coming up the road to our house. She gave us goodie bags to hand out that she had packed for the kids at the end of the trail. Luckily it was a perfect, sunny, warm day and evening. The families arrived in the late afternoon and walked up here around 6:15 when it was dark. I'm still smiling thinking about it.

Nan, this is lovely and I'm so glad you guys got to hand out goodies! Margaret seems like she had a good idea and I bet everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing it with us! I have fond memories of walking up that road with you...hugs!

DeleteThis whole party makes me so happy! Don't you love it when parents now are planning such fun things for their kids that they won't even miss the old kind of holidays. It was so thoughtful of your daughter to include your house and make everything work for them to visit you. I bet the kids had a great time.

DeleteHow great that Margaret came up with an alternative to the traditional T-or-T. This looks like it was a lot of fun and I'll bet the kids had a wonderful time. That phone was probably very spooky in the dark! Bravo!

DeleteWe hadn't had trip or treaters in years. Lived in the woods for 10 years -not a one came - then in a retirement community for 4 years - none came and now in an apartment here in Lebanon and doubt we'll have a one with all the restrictions. Next year though we'll be in a house! Yes, we are buying one in Cornish! Great place for trick or treaters.

DeleteYour pics are so great. We never have any trick or treaters even in normal times but, it still doesn't stop us from buying candy to be prepared and then eating it LOL

DeleteGreat photos. The creativity of folks during this particular holiday and the sheer amount of work they are willing to put in to make their creations real amazes me. Some of my neighbors, mostly the ones whose children are long gone, have gone all out this year to create spooky environments in their front yards for the children to enjoy as they stroll past. Not a lot of door-to-door contact going on this year, but people are finding ways around that handicap...and that's a wonderful thing.
